Joint AAD–NPF Guidelines of care for the management and treatment of psoriasis with topical therapy and alternative medicine modalities for psoriasis severity measures

“Topical therapy has always been a keystone of therapy for patients with more limited psoriasis,” April W. Armstrong, professor of dermatology and associate dean at Keck School of Medicine at USC, told Healio.

To address the significant advances in research made in topical therapy, the American Academy of Dermatology and the National Psoriasis Foundation released joint guidelines on the use of these agents in 2020. In addition, the guideline authors recognized the growing popularity of alternative medicine and sought to discuss its role in psoriasis management.
